Feel Like A Failure?

“It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.” ― J.K. Rowling

Experiencing failure is inevitable in life. Understanding that you often learn more from your failures than your success is what makes you successful. The goal should be to learn and grow continuously. The moment you comprehend that you’ve reached the bottom of the barrel is when you do marvelous things. Likewise, the moment you think you’ve reached the sky is when you plummet to the ground. At least that’s how I feel.

Well, you see constant success makes you sloppy. It makes you careless. It makes you overconfident. You feel so used to the favorable results that you let down your guard and feel entitled to victory. Then it’s only a matter of time before you humble yourself.

When you think about it, going through a hard time and failure is a blessing. Of course, no one would see that when they’re going through the process. In fact, most of us would want to escape from such a horrible feeling. But when you’re able to see past those bitter emotions, you reflect on others and most of all on yourself.

If being able to achieve your goals and dreams were so easy, wouldn’t success be very under-rated? If everyone could get anything they wanted, what would be the point of wanting something? Think of it like this, there’s this really expensive car that you want, a Lamborghini maybe, you’d have to save for decades supposing that you don’t earn a lot. And you finally get it! Wouldn’t you be delighted?!

What if you could get it without having to put in your blood, sweat, and tears? What if everyone could afford it? Would it still be that valuable? The answer is clearly, no. So for something to have worth or value, it has to be scarce in amount. Just like that, success, also has to be scarce for it to provide any satisfaction or joy.

Don’t fear failure — not failure, but low aim is the crime. In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail. ― Bruce Lee

Success and failure come side by side, you can’t expect one without having another. And if you do, you either expect too much or too less. Life is anything but certain. If you’re afraid to fail then you’re leading yourself to misery and sorrow. Fear of failure is what prevents you from reaching your full potential.

I’ve witnessed some of the strongest people crumble under the pressure of failure. Sometimes it’s due to external factors and others internal. We are afraid to face the criticisms and skepticism that often, come with failure to meet the expectations. However, I believe that nothing and no one can influence you if you’re mentally strong. Make a decision and stand strong with it, even if it leads to failure. Own it. Learn from it. And don’t look back unless it’s with pride.
